MYRTHA® Technology

Myrtha Pool's


The Myrtha® technology is a system of swimming pool construction, based on the ready prefabricated elements, made of AISI 441 (AISI 316 as the option) stainless steel, and joined directly at the construction site. During the manufacture process, these elements are permanently laminated with a hard PVC layer on the pool water side, using the unique hot-calendering process, which prevents the water from coming into contact with the steel. This layer comes in a standard blue colour and functions as a protective, sealing and finishing element of the steel.
The Myrtha® structures are classified as light, self-supporting, prefabricated, modular steel structures. Such structures may be back filled or with corridor around the pool walls.

Panels are assembled to the base frame, which, simultaneously, functions as the formwork for the reinforced-concrete bottom plate. The panels are joined together by bolting. At each panel joint there is assembled supporting construction - buttress. The base frame and the supporting construction are placed on a continuous footing, while the bottom of the pool is made of a reinforced-concrete bottom plate. The concrete floor is finished and waterproofed using 1.5mm thick reinforced PVC membrane. As required, the following underlay may be placed under the PVC membrane: standard (fleece), soft (Softwalk®) and anti-slip (PEM). Optionally, it is possible to finish the pool's floor with ceramic tiles.
Both the reinforced-concrete footing and the bottom plate are designed separately, depending on the ground condition of the place where the pool is going to be placed.
The Myrtha® technology uses stainless steel in wall structures, where the static and dynamic strength is required, and concrete in the bottom floor plate - where a simple, flat surface is needed.

Advantages of the MYRTHA® technology

    =>In relation to concrete swimming pools with ceramic finishing:
  • 100% waterproofing, unobtainable in standard technologies
  • light-weight structure, which enables the technology to be used, for example, in the upper storeys of buildings or weak, unstable soils
  • quick assembly
  • easily cleaned
    =>In comparison to other steel structures:
  • It is the only technology that protects the steel on the pool water side with a laminated coating made of hard PCV. Water has no direct contact with the steel
  • There is no need to cover the walls of the pool with additional PVC membrane, which is highly adverse for steel structures. The afore-mentioned aspects make the Myrtha® technology highly advantageous, in comparison to the technologies that require PVC membrane (liner pools). The risk related to the liner pools is that even the smallest leak makes the water penetrate the entire surface under the membrane, and, consequently, leads to the corrosion of steel and creates a source of a bacterial contamination. The removal of such a defect requires a standstill period for the pool. The disassembly and replacement of the entire PVC membrane on all the walls of the pool must be made by a specialist service company. In the case of the Myrtha® technology, any leak in the coating creates only a small spot, through which water comes into contact with the exposed fragment of steel, without the risk of affecting the entire steel surface. The removal of such a leak can be performed by the pool personnel in just a few minutes, without putting the entire pool at a standstill.

Furthermore, the Myrtha® technology has seismic certificates, which allows the carrying out of projects in the area of mining damage in Poland.

The base frame is placed on the level adjustment plates, mounted to the continuous footing. The bolts of level adjustment plates enables the micrometric horizontal adjustment and alignment of the base frame. There are mounted the hooks (horizontal peg) to the base frame, that connect the frame with the reinforcement of the bottom plate.

Wall panels

Wall panels are made of stainless steel AISI 441 (AISI 316 as the option), and permanently laminated hard PVC membrane, on the pool water side. Panels are bolted together, and also bolted onto the base frame, to form pool walls. A system of supports and bracings is installed on the outside of the panels. The entire installation process requires no metal welding. The standard width of a panel is 90cm.

Upper overflow gutter

Prefabricated elements of the upper overflow gutter are made in the same system as the wall panels, - made of stainless steel AISI 441 (AISI 316 as the option), and permanently laminated hard PVC membrane, on the pool water side (inside the channel).
The gutter is covered with a grating made of plastic (in white or a bright colour).

    Available types of the gutter:
  • Classic gutter (Wiesbaden type).
  • Ceramic gutter (Finnish type), with the so-called strand, made of anti-slip ceramics. This model is available in a several versions differing in the breadth of the strand.

Myrtha Ceramic

The Myrtha® Ceramic technology applies ceramic as the finishing material for the overflow gutter and the upper edge of the pool's wall. This proposal introduces ceramic elements and the so-called strand in the architectural concept. Ceramic elements are glued to the steel structure. The strands of the overflow gutter are made of anti-slip ceramic elements.


The Myrtha® technology enables the designing of pool with a free edge-line.

Steps of the descending ladder

The ladder uses recessed steps integrated with the wall panel and railings installed in the gutter. It is a safe solution, as there is no risk that a person under water might get trapped between the ladder and the wall of the pool. It also enables the usage of pool coverings with the automatic systems of movement (no risk of a collision between the cover and the ladder).


Recessed footrest is integrated with wall panel.

Underwater window

Underwater windows are used mainly in sports facilities, so as to enable the filming of sports events from under the water.

MYRTHA RenovAction®

Myrtha RenovAction

The Myrtha RenovAction® technology has been designed to use in the modernisation of the existing swimming pool facilities with the pool's basin made of a concrete structure. The system comprises of ready prefabricated elements, made in the same way as the Myrtha® system, i.e. using stainless steel and a permanent membrane made of hard PVC. There is, however, a conceptual difference concerning the assembly of elements in the existing pools. The thickness of the wall panel in a refurbished pool is reduced by as little as 2cm or, in the version for sports facilities, by a few millimetres. The technology enables the preservation of the existing elements, such as water inlets and suctions, underwater lighting systems, which were previously installed inside the pool, as well as their function. The technology includes prefabricated steel upper overflow gutters, which may also be used to refurbish a pool lined with PVC membrane (liner pools).

The clamps are fixed to the existing structure of the pool's walls, which function as guide bars for the steel wall panels.

Upper overflow gutter

The prefabricated upper overflow gutter is installed on the existing structure of the pool and joined with wall panels. The gutter comes in various designs: as a gutter with a Wiesbaden type overflow or a Finnish gutter with ceramic strand, seen in the picture below.

Flanges for wall fixtures

Flanges with a system of gaskets are intended to preserve the functions of the existing elements, such as water inlets and suctions, underwater lighting systems, which were previously installed in the pool's wall.

Bottom floor

The floor of the pool, alike to Myrtha® system, is finished and waterproofed using 1.5mm thick reinforced PVC membrane.

Refurbishing of liner pools

The Myrtha RenovAction® system also comes in a version for the pools, that are entire lined which PVC membrane (both the bottom and walls). This system uses only prefabricated overflow gutter, installed on the existing structure of the pool. The gutters are made in a slightly different style than the ones for steel panels, as they can be joined with the pool's PVC membrane. The gutters come in the following versions: Wiesbaden (Classic), and Finnish with a single (Ceramic 1) or double (Ceramic 2) row ceramic strand.
